Mastocytosis Society Canada Support Forum is free and available to citizens and residents of Canada.
Our hosting provider has some rules we need to follow which you might have seen when you registered.
We also have Rules of Conduct as follows:-
1. Solicitation of our registered participants, for purposes outside of Mastocytosis Society Canada, is prohibited.
2. All posts on this board, with the exception of news & research articles, belong to Mastocytosis Society Canada and individual posters. General information may not be posted elsewhere without our written permission. Private member information is intended to remain on this board only and never distributed elsewhere without the permission of the originating poster and our moderators or administrators. We do recommend you print off any information for your doctors and for personal reference. Please respect the privacy of others by not posting their comments or discussions elsewhere online.
3. This forum has zero tolerance for fighting, bullying, harassment and/or manipulation. Contact us at info@mastocytosis.ca or support@mastocytosis.ca if you have an issue, question, or concern regarding MSC, or any participants.
4. Let's try to keep discussions about mastocytosis on the forum so that everyone can benefit from questions and answers. What you are going through today will help countless others in future.
5. Multiple accounts are not permitted. If you have one username already, applying for another, pretending to be someone else, misrepresenting yourself, etc. will result in banning. Please know we have verified with Proboards that it is impossible to accidentally login under a different user account. Families are permitted to share one account, as long as they let us know. Due to living with severe illness, we don't have the resources or energy to waste on this sort of situation. So if it looks suspicious, we will automatically ban. You can register a new account but will have to explain by email who you are, why you're registering, provide your previous registered status/username, etc.
6. The purpose of this forum is to provide Canadians a safe, private, educational and supportive environment for those affected by mastocytosis, including patients, family members, friends, caregivers, bereaved loved ones and doctors or medical researchers. Our focus is twofold - supporting people dealing with mastocytosis in all it's forms, and, improving healthcare for Canadians here at home and those from other countries but who are living in or visiting and in Canada now.
7. Please do not circumvent or interfere with our mission or efforts to improve diagnosis and treatment for people in Canada.
8. If a new member posts and they live close to you, please do not ask them to contact you privately via your email address as your first response to them. We want to ensure all participants have benefit of the entire forum and that all of us can offer support and educational resources. Over time, if you have developed friendship with anyone on the forum, feel free to maintain that via private emails. Our intention is to protect all participants to the best of our ability and maintain the safe, educational and supportive environment developed over many years on this forum.
9. Forums like this can be an invaluable resource. However, it is vital that we each recognize that we are all individuals first. Illness may be something we share, but it's important to remember that we are not defined by our illnesses. We are individuals first and foremost. Please remember that we are not privy to everything there is to know about someone else. Support is invaluable but judgments do more harm than good. Let's be there for each other without force or recriminations. to everyone for participating here.
10. Please remember that Mastocytosis Society Canada volunteers (includes most directors) participating here are all patients themselves. Stress is the number one trigger of mast cell degranulation for most patients. Be as considerate of us as we strive to be of all participants. Support and consideration needs to be extended both ways.
We encourage you to build support with everyone or a select few members, as your comfort level prefers.
and finally.....
11. This forum is now part of the legally incorporated Mastocytosis Society Canada official organization. All rules posted above extend to this forum and the organization as a whole. Please do not compromise or disrespect MSC or it's directors or volunteers, any of our objectives or events, or interfere with our stated mission or any individuals on this forum. Such actions are detrimental, not to mention disrespectful, to every single person who has contributed to and needs this forum and organization in Canada.
